Violette de Bordeaux Fig (Negronne)

Violette de Bordeaux Fig (Negronne)

Ficus carica 'Violette de Bordeaux'

Also known as Bordeaux and Negronne. The very productive tree/bush can produce two crops of purple/black figs with rich, raspberry-colored flesh. Very good in quality with a concentrated texture and deeply sweet flavor. For short-season and cool summer growers, this is the variety to grow for a Mission-style fig experience.

As a member of the breba category of fig, it can produce 2 crops in warm regions. Produces one crop on last years' wood and another on new growth. Very well-suited to growing in pots. Disease and pest resistant. Very similar to Petite Negri but slightly later to ripen. This variety is grown from tissue culture and has been heat-treated to significantly reduce the presence of Fig Mosaic Virus.
